The set-up is a little incredible, but I was willing to give the author that. There are some strange things within the given world that are hard to believe, but I was enjoying the story enough to pass them over — they weren't contradictions.

The series could certainly go either way at the moment. Either resolve my reservations with the world, or generate specific contradictions that show the author hadn't thought things through.

It was fun enough that I'll probably get the next one in the series sometime next year.
