My mother, who's a technophobe saw the K3, picked it up... and LOVED it, I showed her the page forward/back buttons and she was off, reading the book.
While I agree the bookshelf lacks 'glitz' I've not found it a show-stopper in any way. For many people who aren't techno-fluent the process of selecting an item from a list is a lot more 'true' to the paper forms that they'd normally handle, as opposed to emulating a 'real world' which may cause them to have to think more due to the combination of the two environments.
