1) Using windows explorer, can you copy the file M:\metadata.calibre to M:\metadata.calibre.copy? Please do not assume you can do it. Try it.
2) If the answer is 'Yes', then using notepad, can you open M:\metadata.calibre, add 1 space to the end of the first line, then save it back to exactly the same file?
3) Are you running any file synchronizer programs?
4) Please post the caldebug.txt file.
