BAEN is the very definition of exception when it comes to non-DRM'd ebooks. Not only did they jump at making their ebook releases DRM-free, they've also pioneered the concept of the E-ARC (electronic Advanced Reader/Reviewer Copy) allowing those who simply *cannot* wait for the latest dead-tree novel to 'read it first' electronically.
