I've learned:

It's pronounced “Jan,” as in “Jan and Dean,” not “Yahn” or “Juan” or “Consuela.”
Small towns in America are surreal and frightening places filled with all sorts of evil and festering dark secrets waiting to burst forth on the unsuspecting world. (ala “Killing Floor” and “Risen.”) I had always suspected this.
