Well, you know, there's a limit even to what the Calibre developers can do. These guys are only human, after all. (At least, most of the time I think they are. Then they come up with something totally awesome or some insanely quick bug fix or feature implementation, and I'm not so sure...) My point here is: Read Chaley's and Kovid's posts in this thread, they explain why Calibre is the speed it is. While I believe they try to do what they can, they can't do magic. (Then again... this is
written in Python, after all
) Personally, I prefer robustness over speediness if I had to choose.
