I live in Kyiv Ukraine. I see readers regularly, but I only saw my first Kindle 3 this week. She (the owner) let me hold it and later we compared Kindles as she'd never seen the Kindle 2 before. I was surprised at the lack of difference between our screen brightness. Didn't make me jealous of that at all. Now battery life is a whole 'nother thing.
I'm sad that the K3 doesn't have numbers, as I use them to find Bible verses all the time.
I've seen one Nook, several Kindles, among the English speaking ex-pats, I know. I see Ukrainians with e-readers I've never heard of. There is definitely a camaraderie among ebook people, regardless of brands. That's pretty cool.
Haven't seen an iPad in the wild yet. Even the apple fanboys in my life aren't impressed with them, so I doubt I'll see them any time soon. If you think Apple products are overpriced in the states, they're probably 60% more here.
