She doesn't particularly want an e-book reader of any description - she had a look at mine out of curiosity, but isn't especially interested in one for herself. If she does decide she wants one, she'll buy it herself.

definitely doesn't want an iPad - she's just bought an Android phone and was quite vocal at the several people that suggested an iPhone
