I commute into London every day - I see an eBook reader 2-3 times a week. Tend to mostly be Sony ones, have only seen a few Kindles.
I iPads every day...although people generally aren't reading books on them.
I'd say on the average commute
- 40% are fiddling with a smartphone, either playing a game/browsing/emailing (predominantly iPhones and Blackberry's)
- 30% of people are reading a newspaper (mostly the free Metro)
- 20% are reading a paperback
- 10% just look pissed off its Monday.
and about 30% of the above are listening to some headphones whilst doing whatever they're doing.
