Here, in the northern hemisphere, autumn has begun and winter approaches. The change of seasons always seems bittersweet to me. I may pause a moment to ponder my losses —those activities I so greatly enjoyed and under-valued in the past, of which I am no longer capable: Long walks, leisurely ones or otherwise, bike rides around the neighborhood, or over to the coast, reading for hours without fatigue.
I dwell on those losses for little more than a moment now, and more quickly remember what I do have and what I can do. I have the good fortune to live in a beautiful part of the world, an area that also has little worry of hurricanes, earthquakes, tornadoes. Volcanic eruptions are even more rare. I have learned that I have a greater circle of family and friends that I had previously thought a (somewhat reclusive) introvert may enjoy. I have gained back much of the reading ability and am exploiting that as much as possible.
KC and MOTH, I know you are having a rough go of it. There are, however, better days ahead. I won't be a Pollyanna (does that mean anything outside of the States?). Things always look darkest before the power goes out, and then you meet a Grue. BUT I also know that all the love and prayers directed toward you cannot be without a positive effect.
