Howdy from Texas

I've yet to break down and buy an e-reader. My wife uses Kindle for PC, and my son has a nook.

The first things I will explore on this site are related to free e-books in EPUB DRM-free format. I am aware of Project Gutenberg and Google Books. I am sure there are other good sources. I am also interested in learning about the difference in quality of e-books from each source. I see Amazon has some $.99 e-books on classic (expired copyright) books, and if the quality of those it better, that's worth considering as well.

We're just looking into libraries in Texas that support e-books and require state residence (not city) to join. These libraries could be a great way to get access to lots of good reading.

My opinion on e-readers themselves is that this is an area of rapid technology advancement and market growth. It will be fun to watch over the next few years.

I look forward to learning a lot from the members here.
