They could just put the leds on the side above the eink display and pointing to light the screen and have an on and off in the menu or a button. I think that I will be getting the lighted case. I just wish that the light was more positionable and that they would not have the problems with the reader cracking if someone opened the reader from the back. I know that it won't be me that has the thing cracked but someone else in the family would. I enjoy the light weight and really only wanted to use a case when taking the thing out of a house.
