Can't send files to iTunes with the latest Calibre (0.7.21)

I don't know if it's a problem with my exact settings or maybe a regression. Trying to send files to iTunes (iPad not connected, device recognized fine) I'm getting the following:

Code:
Error communicating with device

(22, "invalid mode ('wb') or filename") Traceback (most recent call last):
File "site-packages\calibre\gui2\device.py", line 69, in run
   File "site-packages\calibre\gui2\device.py", line 361, in _upload_books

   File "site-packages\calibre\devices\apple\driver.py", line 1316, in _delete_iTunesMetadata_plist
File "site-packages\calibre\utils\zipfile.py", line 725, in __init__
IOError: [Errno 22] invalid mode ('wb') or filename: u'C:\\Windows\\system32\\<fdopen>'
Anyone else out there with an iPad can check?
