Artistic licence more than anything else. The cross-T was intentional in order to break the monotony that was apparent when using the standard T. Likewise I like the dotted-i, again for the same sort of reasons.
To be fair, it was a painful font to work with because the creators really mixed up the upper/lower-case forms and spacings, necessitating the breaking up of the words into individual letters for adjustment :grumble: (good thing Inkscape let me align things).
The pain I'm having at the moment is that the hook-line/catch-line doesn't come out clearly - I suspect I'll have many hours and maybe days ahead of me forging towards the perfect solution. I've made it harder on myself by not wanting to make a huge 700x90 banner; having seen others on the forum I find them more annoying than not at such sizes.
