Seriously? If calibre became invasive like that, I would drop it faster than a hot turd! One of the many reasons I like calibre is it isn't nosey.
I can see having a forum that asks for the system you are running, etc. put into a sigline but expecting calibre to phone home with that data is too Big Brother for my taste. Same for expecting everyone to have to update when they becvome available. Some people are on slow connections. I'm on a fairly fast one and still have to try two or three times to get a download to succeed. Many of us (including me) like to wait a day or two before upgrading to make sure the new version is bugfree. Then there are those (including me) of us who just don't want to bother to upgrade unless the version has a change that will directly benefit us.
