Of course mine does. This is just the way things work on the Cybook.
Have you done the job of writing down the PID before plugging the Cybook into the PC?
Okay, try doing this:
1. Turn on the Cybook.
2. Get to the Cybook's About dialog and write down the PID.
3. Strip out and re-install Mobipocket Reader from a clean download from Mobipocket. (Making sure the version is 6.1, Build 585 or newer.)
4. Re-boot your PC.
5. Plug your Cybook into the PC. (Remember, your Cybook should still be on.)
6. Bring up Mobipocket Reader and get to the point where you can see the list of devices on the MR6.1 main page. You should-because you haven't registered the Cybook as a Mobipocket reading device-see it listed as some form of removeable storage.
7. Click on the 'Devices' option and bring up the reading devices page.
8. Click on the "Install new device" button and then on the "Other device" menu option.
9. What dialog do you get at this point? If you get the "Plug in" message, let me know. (And if you go into File Explorer with the Cybook plugged in (with an SD card installed, if you have one), do you see the Cybook shown as a removeable drive - with, if installed, the SD card showing up as the removeable drive listed just before the Cybook?)
10. If you get past the "Plug in" message, follow the instructions given by MR6.1.
