It's quite the opposite. In ePUB you can have smallcaps (although ADE stupidly does not support them, other renderers do). Mobipocket does not support smallcaps, and you have to use some tricks (such as actually writing uppercase letters and making them smaller), and these tricks you could use them in ePUB too
In my opinion, the only advantages of mobipocket are: It has an specific dictionary format, and the reader is often less buggy than what we get from Adobe.
