Reading is a process for me. Absorbing information with my eyes, not concentrating on what I hear is a very important thing. I have had a go on audiobooks a while ago. I have noticed that I catch myself thinking about something else. I would get back to the story, sometimes I could listen for 20 minutes, then it would repeat. Absolutely randomly. Reading is supposed to be fun and relaxing for me. When I feel uncomfortable, then it is not my cuppa. Frustration at myself for being inattentive, for loosing concentration so easily and berating myself for it is in no way resemble a well spent time

I'm the same way. I have ADD and I'm distracted very easily. I also do not read at a steady pace. Some passages read easily and others require slowing down to absorb what is being said. Sometimes what I just read doesn't quite sink in and I have to reread it (usually only a sentence, or even a fragment of a sentence, but if it didn't sink in, the interruption of continuity can disrupt comprehension of what follows). Sometimes I like to stop and "chew" on what I just read for awhile.
