I said no such thing. I am VERY well aware that Greek culture was preserved particularly in the Byzantine empire, which was, in turn, conquered by the Turks.

Yes, thank you, I am very well aware of that. I said that knowledge of the Greek
language had been lost in Europe, hence the often-seen comment in medieval manuscripts "Graecum est; non legitur" - "it is Greek, so it cannot be read". The manuscripts existed, but nobody could read them. Knowledge of the ancient Greek language returned to Europe primarily via the Moorish cities in Spain.
