DRM within the 'big boy' ranks is starting to fall away it might seem as a lot of authors are demanding that their books be DRM free. I know when you submit a new book for the Kindle shop on Amazon you get a choice there to implement DRM or not.
Most authors are aware of the relative pointlessness of DRM and subsequently tend not to wish to impose it on their readers. (At most, they may however have watermarks which is a perfectly valid option).
As for the international sales, there's a lot of progressive authors who are providing downloads direct from sites like smashwords, their own WWW site or other similar non-geographically restricted places.
