I know, it's shocking isn't it ;-) Actually, I think I'm probably fairly main stream in my reading, I don't specialise in my own genre at all although this is what comes out when I write a lot of weird and unlikely stuff goes in.
So, I read anything that looks interesting - for the most part stuff I buy second hand or borrow from the Library and when I worked I used to borrow lots of books from Lost Property (it is truly amazing how many people leave books on the bus). I do like Narnia/Harry Potter type books, the ones that are supposed to be for kids but actually appeal to adults.
I also have to admit that since my son was born, two years ago I have only managed to read about 6 books; Nation and Unseen Academicals by Terry Pratchett, A spot of bother by Mark Haddon and Juliette, Naked and Slam by Nick Hornby... oh yeh and my own about 17 times.
It's why I keep rather low profile about reviews and feedback... because as a full-time parent, I simply don't have time to read other peoples' stuff properly and write (and writing is the one intellectual outlet I have left and it keeps me sane).
When junior starts nursery I am hoping things will change ;-) I am certainly going to put Robert Rankin on my list if only because I find Penge as inately humorous as he does.
cheers
