I personally would not place any emphasis on anything a sales clerk said. They typically are pretty clueless. I would go to the Sony Style website listed below and look at what the horse's mouth has to say:

I attached two images. The first is from the above website and shows what might be a barrel AC charge connector, but looks more like a headphone jack to me. The second shows the back of the older 900 and as you can see from comparing it to Sony's photos of the new 950 it doesn't have the cover connections. I doubt it will come with a cover and I doubt it will have the barrel style charger connector.

EDIT: I'm rather certain that is a headphone jack. Compare that photo with the one for the black 650 on which the same port/connector is clearly labeled for headphones.
