Courtesy has to be taught as a child.......over and over and over again, until its ingrained.

When I do see little ones go out of their way to do these things, I always stop and compliment them.

It just doesn't happen that often....
include the 'chewing of gum' with open mouthed action and I always see a cow on the cud

not checking behind when one allows a door to swing shut
