Hi GrimRedBones, welcome. I think the original point was that over-zealous atheists were a burden on the rest of the atheist community, which I think the thread went on to illustrate quite nicely, along with the burden of zealotry of any stripe.

To be fair, that thread lasted longer than most of its ilk, and did haul itself back on topic a few times.

The Lounge is clearly the place here to debate the unprovable, if you're not too concerned about wasting time. And such debates can throw up interesting points. Hopefully nobody concerned feels too attacked to engage further elsewhere in Mobileread. I certainly didn't come away from it with hard feelings towards anyone.
