Bacon is making a reference here to Ephesians 4:26-27: "Be ye angry, and sin not: let not the sun go down upon your wrath: Neither give place to the devil." I've always considered the phrase let not the sun go down upon your anger to be perhaps the best one line piece of advice ever for a successful marriage.
The yeti and I were given that piece of advice twice on our wedding day (we had a point in the reception were we asked all the guests to line up and give us a piece of advice). We've mostly kept to it, too. It has made for some very late nights at times, but better that than waking up still angry.
