The iPhone has, as I understand it, a 320x480 screen (ie half VGA). That puts it right in the middle of the range of Pocket PC phones, which generally have either quarter VGA (320x240) or full VGA (640x480) screens.
As I say, I haven't yet had the opportunity to see an iPhone; I believe they are being launched in the UK sometime this month, but I am put off by their current closed architecture. I believe that Apple have announced the future availability of an SDK for them, so doubtless that will change in the future, but as things stand, it's an essential feature for me personally to be able to install apps like bookreaders on my phone, since I use it at great deal for casual reading.
