Unwanted Pagebreaks

My normal procedure for prepping an ebook is to save a filtered html file in Word, run it through BookDesigner, and then convert it to lrf in Calibre and send it to my Sony PRS-505.

Since the "7" series of Calibre began, I've been having a problem with how Calibre handles the title and author lines of the book: it puts an unwanted pagebreak between the two. The title page image appears as normal on the first page, but then follows a page with just the title on it, and then a page with just the author on it. I realize support for lrf in Calibre is being deprecated, but this doesn't seem like something that Kovid had intended. Anyone have an idea of what is going on, and how I might correct it?

P.S.: Also, could someone give me a single additional karma point?
