That makes me think then that it very possibly could be something they put on the demo to help it survive. I know the Sonys I've seen in displays look awful...matter of fact, that's one reason I had discounted Sony as a brand when it came to my choice of ebook reading device. All the ones I had seen looked like they'd been pulled behind a truck down ten miles of bad road and the screen somehow miraculously survived!
