I installed the SS hack last night and it worked perfectly. I then updated to 3.02. The screen savers reverted to the original ones. I still have the linkss folder and my custom screen savers.

Do I have to uninstall the ss hack and then re-install it or can I just re-install it?

Edit: I just copied the install.bin file to the root directory of my Kindle again and rebooted and my custom screensavers are back.
