Does keeping multiple formats affect performance?

On my old laptop, Calibre was very slow and I got into a habit of only keeping the mobi files in Calibre and backing up original epubs elsewhere. Now I am finding my backup system getting a little unwieldy and I have to reconvert everything multiple times when my mother comes over and wants stuff for her non-mobi Kobo. So I am thinking of just leaving everything in Calibre but I don't want to gum everything else up. Is there a performance downside to doing this? Will it run faster if I leave only one format per book in Calibre or will this not matter?
