It doesn't bother me (too much ). I selected free shipping so wasn't expecting to get it quickly anyway. I just thought it was strange they won't let me change my order today given that it's not expected to ship until Monday. Was thinking of bumping up my shipping method to 2-day.

They do seem to be giving free shipping lower priority. Since my kindle is finally close to shipping, I ordered a cover for it. The cover is listed as being in stock, and if you want it tomorrow, select overnight shipping. Well, I selected free shipping again. Expected ship date for the cover is Sep 21, with an expected delivery date of Sep 22 thru 25 (strange, since it's supposed to be 5 to 8 days).
