The thread title shows this short sentence at location 311-312 of
The Book Thief; the "£5" doesn't seem to make sense, and I don't have a hard copy for cross-checking. Here for context is the entire paragraph typed up,
viz:
"For Liesel Meminger, there was the imprisoned stiffness of movement, and the staggered onslaught of thoughts. £5 stimmt nicht. This isn't happening. This isn't happening.
And the shaking.
Why do they always shake them?"
Perhaps the "£" sign is a misreprentation, or an encoding error? Am I missing something?
