Every living thing-- if unrestrained by such things as disease, predation, and lack of food and all offspring produced lived to reproduce themselves-- would overflow the Earth in a handful of generations. But that doesn't happen because there are always restraints on population growth.
Humans have partially solved disease, predation, lack of food, and child mortality, and look at the results-- we are filling the Earth to overflowing in a handful of generations.
