First problem is due to lack of kernel developers. Do you volunteer?

Second problem is deliberately ignored, if not due to fact DRM is biggest idiocy since socialism, then due to unsolvable legal problems. It is just not legal to implement any DRM scheme as free software. If you are unlucky enough to live in country where you're not allowed to remove encryption from book you've just bought, you've got lot of solutions: 1) move to saner country 2) stop buying DRM books 3) submit to those who control DRM schemes and buy their crapware 4) vote for Pirate Party or any other party that will denounce DMCA and similar bullshit.
