Well, I haven't got a Sony or even seen one in real life, but I have prepared and uploaded several ePub format ebooks and have edited a few commercial ebooks.

What I do is to right click on the ebook, and choose open with WinZip. All the folders appear on the WinZip window, and I can open the folders by double clicking on them. I can then copy any file (most often the stylesheet) into another folder and edit it with an HTML editor, then save it, then add the file back into the Winzip window, and finally close WinZip. I have occasionally right clicked on the file and opened it with the HTML editor in situ, but I normally prefer to copy it into another folder and copy the edited file back to overwrite the old version.

With this process I have an edited version of the ebook without having to change its extension and without having to unzip it or rezip it.

I prepare ebooks for upload with a similar process, except that the file I open is a template.epub and I edit or add files according to the book.

I hope I have made the process understandable, and that it is helpful. It sounds simpler than some of the suggestions above, or using Calibre or Sigil.

Regards, Alex

PS And yes of course I make backups first.
