Second user and possible problems?
Have been a reader of these forums for a while but have now registered as I need a bit of help!
I have and love my PRS-300 and have convinced a friend, much to the delight of his wife who complains their house is taking on the appearance of a second hand bookshop, to get a reader.
Fortunately for him his son has given him his PRS-600 (at least temporarily as a trial to take on holiday) as he's recently purchased an iPad. As it's still in the family so to speak he has left his collection (albeit a small one) on the reader. These books are all DRM restricted having been purchased via Waterstones or W H Smith here in the UK. My friend now wishes to add his own books and will be connecting to his own Mac.
I have warned him of the dangers of using the, IMHO, terrible Sony software and have recommended Cailbre which I use and having seen the online demo he seems quite keen. I also want to give him a few of the books from my Calibre library which have no DRM.
I have been requested to help him set everything up (he is even more of a technophobe than me!) but I've never used a Mac.
Firstly as the device was effectively registered to his son's computer (also a Mac) will there be any issues with registering the reader with Calibre on the new machine? Am hoping we can avoid touching the Sony software at all although I assume it is like my reader and will attempt to load every time it's connected!
Secondly assume I would need to install Adobe Digital Editionsfor any subsequent DRM book purchases?
Finally assume no problems in copying some epub/LRF files from my Calibre library (created on Windows XP) to use on his reader/Mac (accept DRM files will not work).
Sorry my first post is such a long one but hoping not to spend hours sorting this lot out!
