Looks like the reader is back in stock on the Rewards website (do a search for "reader"). I can even add it to my cart. The problem is that the price doesn't get reduced to the promo price. I called the Redemption Center again, and they say (as they have been) that I'll get an email in the next 2 weeks detailing how to order the Reader and that I can't order it from the website right now.
Feels like I'm getting the run around because it makes no sense that I shouldn't be able to order the Reader on the site (since it's available) and have them adjust the price discrepancy after the fact.
Oh well, I guess we'll have to continue being patient with this.
