I tried to convert one of my prc books to FB2 once (just to see how that would render). It didn't. It converted to epub flawlessly...

It's absolutely not a device for the mobile technophobe... As it would be hard to buy any book and get it to the device, as those books generally are in epub. (or mobi, but you'll need a Kindle then anyway). So, all books that that parent or neighbour buys will have to be de-drm'd and converted.
