3 reasons:

1: Space, or lack thereof! I got a lot of free books from bookmooch but my shelves are groaning!

2: Availability of older, classic books, especially historic SF. No chance of finding such books as M.P.Shiel's The Purple Cloud in our public library!

3:Finally I love gadgets!!
