Not counting things like public domain freebies, you can get paid, DRM-free, no stripping required books from Baen (mostly sci-fi but the Nightshade Press books are horror books), Smashwords (indie authors as well as published authors self-pubbing their backlists), Fictionwise (multiformat books), Bookview Cafe (consortium of several established authors). And that is just off the top of my head...
