The real internet is not the flash abomination though that is dieing fast. It's open standards. And come on, you don't have to have 8000 apps just some key ones on tasks you do. Do you prefer going via google maps on a browser, or going into the proper app for that.

Other than that you make some good points, the thing is that the ipad is a paradigm shift, as was the first mac, in time people will get along with it. Funny thing is that it's so intuitive and so rich in applications that that -as we from the apple side expected to happen- it's sold better than most "analysts" and pc pundits wildest expectations. That's why everyone is shooting at apple at the moment. There's a lot of bitterness there from the average joe pc pundit who predictions and misgivings about the ipad where proven not only wrong but downright silly and irrelevant by the buying public. It's not nice when a company you ditch all the time continually outsells the staff one (gets paid to) promote(s) and produces far superior product.

You really have to use one to see how great multitouch and generally a touch interface designed from the bottom up is. The ips screen, the light weight, the large battery life, how great it is for photos and how immersive the whole experience is, etc. etc. There's no comparison to me really. Sure other things will be adequate, maybe even better in some legacy applications, but that's not saying much is it?

It's good that there is choice of course, and I am sure in time ms and of course the current arch copier that is google will catch up and emulate apple, they've always done that anyway, but apple again created a market and managed to dominate it. And that's saying a lot about the high standards in this company and of course the unparalleled leadership of Steve Jobs who dwarfs the Balmers of this world.
