The Libre/JBL is a possibility. Just a little scared off by some of the reviews saying it dies after several months. But most people seem to really like.

It's almost the principle of the thing. I don't watch movies on VHS any more, but my 8 year old player up in the closet still works. I really don't understand the mindset of building a premium device that comes with a lit fuse. Most likely I'll upgrade by then, but I don't want my hand forced. I want to be a buyer, not a subscriber.

That makes a lot of sense. To top it all off I probably have enough paper books to last until the Kindle 5,
