There are a few comments about the screen on this thread. Basically there is no longer any kind of resitive layer, so the screen will be just as good as any other device using the same type of screen. I believe it is an identical screen to the Kindle. However I have a few concerns about the new touch technology they are using:

1) It is very sensitive requiring no pressure (of course since it is not activated by pressure but by infra red). Whilst this might seem like a good thing I can see lots of accidental activations by brushing up against it.

2) Does the touch facility turn off when in stand by mode or will a touch activate it? If the latter then I can see it getting constantly activated from standby by mistake and so reducing battery life. Also in this case the infra-red led/lasers (I don't know which) would surely draw power whilst in standby.

A bit more on thread as best I can tell in the UK the release date is given as 17th September. Both Waterstones and SonyStyle are giving that date. SonyStyle is still specifically saying pre-orders will be delivered within 5 days of release.

I'm kind of holding off as I don't like the high price (nearly double the Kindle) and I am expecting discounted prices to start appearing from other distributors very soon after the release.
