UPS are one of the largest courier companies in the world, so it's not unnatural that Amazon should use them. I'm sure that if you ask about any large company you'll find people who have encountered problems with them. Problems can and do occur with any company; it's unfortunate when it happens, but it doesn't mean that the company has a systematic problem with poor service. If they did, they probably wouldn't be the successful company that they are.

Amazon are extremely "customer service oriented" and I really can't see them continuing to use any supplier with whom they'd had a history of problems.
