That's fantastic to know Desertblues - maybe I wrongly assumed that several hundred books might start to slow down processes like opening books up and starting the Kindle. If not that's great and you have more than double the quantity of my book collection so it means I can continue collecting ...
I'm still reluctant to load up more books yet as I'm fed up with all the restarts I'm getting rather randomly - I have stopped using the web browser for the moment to see if that improves things.
