I don't think re-compressing already compressed data nets you any extra compression (not taking into account an excellent compression algorithm vs. a lousy one). I compressed a 443mb rar file with 7zip resulting in a 441mb file. Re-compressing that file, on ultra compression, took a good bit of time and actually increased the file size to 447mb.
