The most disheartening thing about the religious mindset of many U.S. citizens is that many politicians have discovered that if they make a show of faith and give lip service to certain prejudices of American fundamentalists they can get away with murder and the faithful will consider any criticism of them to be an attack on Christianity itself. It's a great cover. You can rob people blind, and as long as you tell them you love Jesus, they'll fight like the devil to defend you.

You really can fool some of the people all of the time. At least in this country.
