Since it's been available for so long, has anyone on MobileRead actually read it? (I already read what Amazon readers had to say.)
Interesting there has been no response to this. I like the concept of the series -- The Pawn, The Knight, The Rook -- but I was put off by some readers at Amazon saying the books are pretty gory. I read one James Patterson -- Violets are Blue, one of the Alex Cross tales -- and that was more gruesome than I really want. A serial killer is one thing (geez, this is a popular genre), but I'm not inclined to want to linger over the demise or the splatters.

I keep reminding myself as so much material is dangled in front of me free: at about 50 books a year, I have between 1500 ad 2000 more books I can read before I'm dead. And there are a few things I'm interested in re-reading. It helps me cull a TBR list.
