Because, in my case at least, my K3 *never* froze/locked-up/crashed/whatever, but it *does* have the long flash to black issue (sometimes...).

It turns out I was mistaken when I said a reboot fixed the problem. I've been getting it alot and rebooting does nothing. What I do now is just wait it out. I watch a DVD or something and come back to my Kindle and it works fine. It seems to be completely random when it will start or stop the slowdown. Sigh. Please patch this, Amazon
