Living in the desert, whenever I apply a screen protector on anything, I run the shower on hot in the bathroom for a few minutes to steam up the room, turn it off, go get the device, and apply the protector on a towel on the sink countertop, the steamy air pulls all the dust out of the air for a short while and lets me apply it w/o any dust getting beneath the protector.
